Loving can cost a lot but not loving always costs more, and those who fear to love often find that want of love is an emptiness that robs the joy from life.

Venice is jam pack full of tourists. I almost think its existence has been given over to tourism. And yet it is a city that thrives on it and embraces it. Venice absorbs the tourists and allows you still to enjoy it beauty and fascination. In truth it is quite easy to find a corner of Venice and hog it to your chest as your own piece of Venice devoid of all others. But Venice is a place you should go to with your lover. Not to do so and it will make you confront your emptiness and loneliness that in normal life you can hide and disguise and avoid facing up to.

You can almost feel the decay here but then I notice one person, one table, one umbrella. Almost begs for life to spring anew.

This is a terrific shot! I got the sense that I’m seeing the world after the apocalypse and all the people are gone (ok, so I’ve been watching too many zombie movies). Excellent pairing of image and quote.

Thanks for the kind words. I enjoyed the challenge because it makes you think and put some time into getting an appropriate quote.

Beautiful combination of the photo and the quote, Adrian! I can imagine how difficult it is to find an empty and quiet corner in Venice – especially when the sun is shining. Must admit I really enjoy it in every way – packed with tourists as well as in more peaceful mode.
Thank you for being a part of the challenge.
