Tales from a Fractured Folly: 28th April 2017

Most of yesterday I spent in Cheltenham dipping my toes into the Jazz Festival and all that goes on with it. After my regular breakfast with old chums I drove off, parked up and explored the Festival, starting with a browse around a Pop Art exhibition. Worth and I made the effort every now and again to try something different to see how we could cope with culture. The edgy stuff mostly confused us, but between the two of us we could mull over what we thought. It’s surprising, even if you have no clue what it’s “supposed” to be about, you can chew the fat. After that I wandered round Cheltenham and ended up in good old Montpelier where the Jazz kicks off. I settled down by the Free Stage to listen to the Sea Slugs with a glass of cider and got talking to a lady much older than me who plays the saxophone in a band and was there visiting her son whilst enjoying the festival. Then it was time for my concert, more saxophones. That started off seeming odder than I had imagined it would be, but I actually ended up liking it, and as I was right at the front, watching him play was really upclose and personal. I must make more of an effort to “Do Different”

  1. I love all these different places you are going. An open-air music concert is the best, isn’t it? Sounds like you had a good time.
