Our plan for today was to walk from this village, Corneglia to the next, Vernazza. The walk was ok although I wasn’t expecting to pay for it. But the weather was a bit iffy. Rain was forecast for this afternoon but it was definitely raining out at sea and it was just a question of how long it held off. But we got to our destination dry and had Bruschetta for lunch. Then we hopped on the train to Monterossa which was probably the prettiest of all the villages and certainly less busy. But the rain was on its way and I had the foresight to buy an umbrella which was just as well. The spitting turned to drizzle and the drizzle turned to rain so we had an ice cream and headed home. We had been told about a lovely seaside village a little further up the coast called Bonassola so we called in there on our way back. It was quite lovely, a proper seaside town with a beach and best of all wonderfully quiet, but a bit of a pain to get to with lots of narrow windy roads. We sat for a while enjoying the peace and the setting sun. Then back to our hotel to get spruced up for dinner.
