One of the consequences of living 450ft above sea level on the East side of a hill is that on sunny mornings, for a brief time, the sunshine shines in the house upwards because it is lower than the windows. It’s a very inspiring way to start the day but it ruins the den stair carpet.

  1. My bedroom, porch and kitchen face east so I have glorious sun in the morning. My house faces west so the afternoons in the living room are beautiful. It is brutal on the furniture, though, so I can imagine your carpeting…
