Another lovely meal in Coleford, this time with an Italian theme. It was advertised as a tribute to Antonio Carlucci but I hadn’t imagined we were going to eat everything he ever made. In the usual fashion we sit on a long table, they bring dishes of food out and you help yourselves to as much as you like. We started with a lovely mozzarella and tomato dish with garlic bread. Then came lasagne, gnocchi, chicken fillets in breadcrumbs and Parmesan, mushroom risotto, penne pasta with tomatoes…meatballs and spaghetti. Quite the most food I have ever seen on a table. Oh and then Dolce Capri (a sort of brownie with a crunchy top and a gooey middle) with sublime creamy panacotta.
Groovy Word of the day: surfeit
